Care for the Family - 21st Century Parent and 21st Century Marriage - Wednesday 14th May, 2008
Following Care for the Family's successful 'Engage' event in February, a day conference packed with ideas and insights to help Churches get in gear with people in the community, Care for the Family invited Churches to view the 21st Century Marriage and 21st Century Parent resources. A free special evening was held on Wednesday 14th May at St John's Mill, designed to help people feel comfortable / explore the material and its objectives.
The courses can be run for four or eight weeks, and follow a DVD presentation from Rob Parsons and an accompanying workbook. They are designed to be informal, interactive with plenty of discussion. Family life today is subject to many tensions and pressures which, if understood, can be more easily managed and alleviated. Sometimes the only thing parents or couples need to know is that they are not alone in the situation they are facing. We very much hope that these courses will help you to reach out, in this year of HOPE08, and offer support in your community. Care for the Family - Engage - Saturday 2nd February 2008
Care for the Family held a very successful day conference in early February at St John's Mill. 'Engage!' was designed to give ideas and insights that would help you get in gear with people in your community, transform lives and forge new futures for families. Fifty people attended the event and were encouraged by Richard Hardy, Church Development Manager, as he shared creative ways to engage the community. The feedback and evaluations showed how inspired those who attended felt, and it was a wonderful start to the twelve month period of the vision of HOPE08. Kim Goh was born in Singapore and left home as a teenager. He soon got into the crime scene rising through the ranks of the feared Triad organisation. He was wanted in several countries for many violent crimes. He was arrested in the UK and charged with 258 crimes and was remanded to prison. On his 3rd day in the prison he had a personal encounter with God that changed his life forever. He is now a Methodist Minister in Loughborough and has recently written a book called ‘Conquering the Dragon’.
