A Prayer Team : We prayed that there would be a team of people who would be willing to pray for the events over the weekend as they happened. Quite a few of you agreed to pray even if you weren’t on the Island at time. Also the Manx Prayer Net agreed to support us in prayer and we found out on Monday just before we were playing in the park that Megan’s sister had her prayer chain in South Africa Praying for us! This was a huge encouragement! A big thank you goes to everyone who supported us in prayer and also to those who supported us by coming along to the events. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated and we couldn’t do what we do without you. We know that prayer is vital if we want to see lives changed by God.
The Acts of Kindness on Saturday and all they will reach out to
That the events will make a big impact on the people of the town
People’s negative views about Church, Christianity & God will change for the better: Many people seemed blown away by the idea that the Church in Britain wanted to give 1 million hours of kindness to their communities over this weekend. As we washed cars and served teas people wanted to know why we were doing it. This gave us great opportunities to share the reason for our acts of kindness – Jesus. Usually it can be hard to start a conversation about God and Christianity but by doing something to help people they wanted to talk about it!
That people’s eyes will be opened and they will see the truth!: I think quite a few people had their eyes opened to see that Christianity is different than the stereotype they might have imagined.
Unity between the Christians & Churches already working together and that more people will capture the vision and get involved.: Although only two of the town’s churches were involved in the weekend many other Christians have seen what is possible and how they could do similar things in the future.
God to have complete control and Satan to have no power at all
Protection for all involved
That God will be glorified through everything that is said and done over the weekend: By the time it came to the weekend some of us were feeling pretty low after a bad week. We felt pretty inadequate for all that we had planned and there was no way we could have done it in our own strength. But it is amazing how God can use us best in our weakness. We were encouraged by the verse that says as we wait for the Lord He’ll renew our strength and as we gave it all to Him He filled us with a new enthusiasm and the strength we needed to go for it for Him! All the credit and glory has to go to Him! We were all fit and healthy for the weekend and able to carry out the tasks God had for us.
God to move powerfully in the town
People to come to know God that weekend: Only God really knows the answer to these two. After praying about it we didn’t feel it was the right time to preach at people but to just share the gospel in practical ways and through the words of the songs. We will keep praying that God will take what was said and done and continue to remind people of them.
God to already be working in the lives of those who will be at the events and to bring people along
There will be lots of people in the Mooragh Park to hear the Gospel message at the joint bands event on Bank Holiday Monday.: God did bring people along to the events especially to the Mooragh Park on Bank Holiday Monday. Lot’s of people have commented that they’ve never seen so many there. We were told that if it was a good day there could be about 400 people there and they were probably not far off. Many of the Christians who were there have said how they feel it was a great success and even a few non Christians have seen Tim at school and said they heard the bands playing in the park and thought it was really good! Once again though the only reason it was a success was that we let God take control! The thought of playing and sharing the gospel in front of all those people was quite a scary thought for a few of us and it’s only through God’s power that we were able to do it well.
The Youth Outreach Concert on Saturday night and all who attend: Attended by the young (teens & twenties) and also the young at heart. Many prayers were answered that night but one that really stands out was that we asked that people would be touched by God and leave feeling better that when they came in. One couple said that it had given them the lift they needed.
Good Weather! – No one will be in the park if it’s pouring down or blowing a gale: What an answer to prayer! God gave us a beautiful day, the sun was shining and it was really hot. The park seemed to be a magnet to everyone on a day like this.
As there is a lot of electrical equipment involved please pray there will be no technical problems: Despite the odd panic everything was sorted out and all the electrical side of things ran smoothly.
